Why it matters
Sit is not just a trick. It gives an excited doodle an easy behavior to offer when their body wants to bounce.
Training steps
1
Hold a treat at nose level.
2
Move it slowly up and back over the head.
3
When their rear touches the floor, mark yes and treat.
4
After five clean reps, say sit before the lure.
5
Fade the lure by using an empty hand signal, then reward from the other hand.
Doodle pro tip
If they back up instead of sitting, practice with a wall or couch behind them so the easiest answer is to fold into a sit.
