Why it matters
Every cue starts with attention. Doodles are social, curious, and easily pulled away by smells, people, and movement. A valuable name cue gives you the first half-second you need.
Training steps
1
Stand three feet away with pea-sized treats ready.
2
Say their name once in a warm voice.
3
The instant they glance at you, mark yes and treat.
4
If they do not look in two seconds, make a soft kissy sound, then reward the glance.
5
Do ten reps, stop while they still want more, and repeat later.
Doodle pro tip
If the name has been overused, choose a training nickname for two weeks. It resets the value without nagging.
Success signs

Works in two rooms
No repeated name needed
